- Hey, Kari-Pekka Koljonen, you mumbled somthing about How to connect a PC CDROM
- to A1200? on 30-Jan-96 14:26:50?
- KK> I'm looking for a cheap way to read CDs on my A1200. Supposedly a PC
- KK> CDROM drive will do, but how do I attach it to the computer? And what
- KK> software do I need?
-
- First decide what type you want - SCSI (expensive but fast) or IDE (v. cheap,
- sometimes slow and hard to connect).
-
- For SCSI you just need a SCSI controller
- for your Amiga, for A1200 it'll be either a squirrel (PCMCIA), dataflyer
- which goes on IDE port inside, or a accelerator-specific one, and you'll need
- cables, mountlists etc.
-
- For IDE you need a drive, some software called ATAPI which allows you to use
- an IDE drive on the Amiga, and a special cable. There is a demo of Atapi on
- Aminet. The drive must (*must*) be Atapi-compliant, there is a list of ones
- that work with Atapi. Also it helps if you have a external case for the drive
- :). you'll also need mountlists etc for this.
-
- Hope this helps
